Phonak split the line down the middle, and the split is the whole buying decision. The three EON Sphere models carry two chips, an ERA sound processor plus a HYPERSONIC chip that does nothing but separate speech from noise. The four EON R models run the ERA chip alone for less. What changed this generation is that Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0 now reaches the 50, so the dual-chip design is no longer a flagship-only purchase.

WindBlock 2.0 runs at every tier, and Phonak's 2026 field study reports 95 percent of users found outdoor listening easier. AutoSense OS AI 8.0 holds a speech program through a lull in conversation instead of dropping out of it, which tends to be the change wearers notice first. One thing the Sphere models cannot do is pair with a CROS transmitter, so if you have unaidable loss in one ear, the R line is your only EON route.
