These are the third set of hearing aids I have owned. The first two were Signias. The first set was the replaceable battery and the second Signia was rechargeable. The Iticons are also rechargeable. The plus part of replaceable is that the batteries last for weeks and a new battery can be changed in 15 seconds and you are good for another two weeks. The downside is they are susceptible to moisture. ( to me the jury is still out on replacement v rechargeable).
Back to Signia v Oticon. The Signias had three environmental settings ie Universal, Noisy Environment, and TV. The Signias also had directional hearing. You could direct your hearing forward, left, right, or all around. This is particularly useful in a restaurants where you can listen to the people in front of you instead of all around or to one side or the other. The Oticon doesn’t. In has something like Speech in Noise but you can’t direct it to listen to voices to your left or right which is useful in a car etc.
The Oticon is significantly better in picking up sounds. I can hear my footsteps. Or people talking out side the house. Hearing seems more precise when not around back ground sounds. I have only had them for about three weeks. Time will tell.
However the Injoy experience was beyond believable. I had a FaceTime conversation with a Technician named William Russell who electronically tuned my hearing aids during the call. He was extremely professional and very knowledgeable about all the different brands. We…
